Burglar Smashes Way Into Capital Region Stewart's Shops, Police Say

It didn’t take long for police to track down an accused burglar who allegedly smashed his way into a convenience store in the region.

Officers in Saratoga Springs responded to the Stewart’s Shops near Broadway and Circular Street after an alarm was triggered at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28.

The store’s front window had been shattered and there was evidence that someone had gone inside, police said.

During their investigation, officers located 45-year-old Stephen Parker nearby and arrested him without incident.

Parker, who is homeless, was charged with:

  • Burglary (felony)
  • Criminal mischief (felony)
  • Petit larceny (misdemeanor)

He was expected to be arraigned in City Court of Saratoga Springs at a later date.
